'The North Indian food, including Dal Makhani, Rara Paneer, Naan, and Gajar ka Halwa, was just like what you'd find in Delhi, North India, as the owner himself is from there. I had a wonderful conversation with Mr. Viraaj, and the food quality and service were exceptional, even on New Year's Eve. The naan here is a far cry from the overly thick and wasteful ones you get in DC – it's perfectly made, just as it should be. If you're craving authentic North Indian food, this is a must-visit. I'll definitely be coming back soon!'

What a special place. The food is fresh and light. Not oily or overwrought. I had the vegetarian butter chicken, which was bright and flavorful. The cocktails are perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. Highly recommend. They grind their own spices and the owner was there the night that my wife and I dined. He shared with us his love of food and I tried his favorite cocktail, which was delicious.

My family and I visited the restaurant for the first time to celebrate my parents 57th wedding anniversary and we were absolutely delighted with our experience. The drinks & food were absolutely amazing – the masala chai was perhaps the best I’ve ever had (other favorites included the paneer makhani and shaam savera) - and we absolutely LOVED the regal ambiance (especially the beautiful artwork). The owner also came out to personally greet us and he was so kind and wonderful. Thank you for a great celebration and we 10/10 recommend Virraaj!

SO GOOD! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The service was quick and everyone was so sweet and friendly. The owner even came over to us and suggested some of the best dishes for us to try and they were amazing. Everything from the decor to the menu and names of the dishes were thoughtful and intentional. The atmosphere was wonderful along with the food and they had soft Bollywood music playing to set the tone. Definitely recommend and will be going here again! Thank you for such a lovely night!

If you find yourself anywhere near Bethesda, Maryland, do yourself a favor—pause, breathe, and make your way to the crown jewel of Indian cuisine, a place that doesn’t just serve food, but serves soul. This isn’t just a restaurant. This is a culinary sanctuary. A celebration of spice, tradition, and hospitality. A temple to taste. And at the center of it all is the man, the myth, the legend—VIKAS. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with aromas that feel like a warm embrace from a long-lost homeland. Rich cardamom, smoky cumin, and the gentle sweetness of simmering onions swirl together like a symphony for the senses. The lighting is soft, the music subtle, but what really shines is the food. Let me start with the butter chicken—no, scratch that, the velvet of the gods. It’s a dish so balanced, so decadent, and so heartwarming it could make a grown man cry. Each bite tells a story of generations, of grandmothers stirring pots over wood fires, of midnight feasts and wedding day platters. Then there’s the biryani, which could very well be listed on UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage list. Fluffy, fragrant, and impossibly flavorful, it carries a depth that whispers of Hyderabad and Lucknow and everywhere in between. The naan arrives, pillowy and blistered just right, begging to be torn apart and dipped into luscious curries. The lamb vindaloo doesn’t just deliver heat—it delivers character. Fire with finesse. Passion on a plate. And while the food is the star, it’s Vikas who makes the experience unforgettable. His presence is calm but commanding. He doesn’t just run a restaurant—he curates a memory. You can tell this is personal for him. Every dish feels like a love letter to India. Every guest, a welcomed member of his extended family. Ask for recommendations and watch his eyes light up as he talks about each dish’s origin, spice profile, and story. This restaurant doesn’t just serve Indian food—it defines it. And not just in Bethesda. Not just in Maryland. Not just in the DMV. We’re talking world-class. I’ve dined in Delhi. I’ve eaten in Mumbai. I’ve explored the food stalls of Chennai and the rooftops of Jaipur. But somehow, this humble spot in Bethesda rises to the top of the list. It’s Indian cuisine at its finest, transcending geography, borders, and expectations. So if you’re hungry—not just for food, but for feeling—come here. If you want to know what love tastes like when it’s ladled out in a copper bowl, served with warm bread and a knowing smile, come here. And when you do, raise your glass to Vikas. Because this? This is more than dinner. This is divine.

The food and service was absolutely fantastic. The music and the atmosphere is relaxing with great lighting. Great for a date night or family outing! The Dahl Bhalla Chaat was delicious and I highly recommend for those who love a blend of spice and sweetness. The Chai is bold and full of flavor. This palace of Indian flavor is without question the best India cuisine I have had ever. I’m a big fan and will be taking the 1.5 hour drive to coming back. If your in the area or have a craving for something different please give this place a try.
